Vitaly Bodnar, the founder of one of the oldest trading platforms on the cryptocurrency market, BTC-Alpha, shared with the crypto community some information about the attack on the platform that happened on 1st November.

Bodnar’s allegations

According to PRLeap, on 1st November, unknown criminals attempted to hack the BTC-Alpha cryptocurrency exchange. The attackers tried to steal users’ funds, and when they failed to see through their plans, they turned to other measures. The team of the trading platform, together with Vitaly Bodnar himself, began to receive numerous threats and insinuations of physical violence. The founder of the cryptocurrency platform believes that the hacking attempt was initiated by their competitors.

“These are the methods of our competitors, with whom we refused to cooperate and add their coins to our platform. They launch their exchange and on the same day there is a massive attack on us. I don’t believe in coincidences like that,” Vitaly Bodnar said.

The management of the trading platform has contacted law enforcement agencies, and while the investigation is underway, Vitaly Bodnar prefers to refrain from commenting on the identities of those whom he considers involved in the crime.

“Nine years of my life have been dedicated to cryptocurrency. I have watched us become the people of the future, and now I I’m in a situation where I have to deal with people with guns from the 90s. The attackers indicated to us through calls and messages that we should not come to BlockchainUA, which was held on 3d November, and that they will be there,” Vitaly Bodnar said.

Not a coincidence

BTC-Alpha fell prey to hacker attacks just two weeks ago, on 1st November, the day of the company’s fifth anniversary. According to experts, the attack on the exchange could not have been spontaneous but was planned and prepared in advance. Some believe that it could take about six months for attackers to make such preparations.

However, even despite serious preparations, the criminals were not able to hack the trading platform and steal user funds. Over the past seven days, the BTC-Alpha team has been working hard to restore the exchange, which until recently was among the top-100 best digital assets trading platforms in the world.
