Bistroo to let customers pay in Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies

Both large corporations and small businesses continue to jump on the crypto bandwagon, allowing their customers to pay with cryptocurrencies. It’s easy, fast, secure, and cheap. Bistroo, a blockchain-powered P2P marketplace for food and beverages, has just followed suit.

Bistroo to disrupt the traditional food sector

The Netherlands-based food delivery platform will allow its customers to pay in Bitcoin, Ethereum (ETH), Binance Coin (BNB), Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH). The platform’s native BIST token and fiat currencies are the existing options for payment.

Bas Roos, CEO, and co-founder of Bistroo, has commented on the expansion into cryptocurrency payments:

“Bistroo is on a mission to set ourselves up on the global stage with our unique business model. The future is moving towards a protocol economy where parties can directly interact with each other, and Bistroo is taking the first steps in that direction, offering a better value proposition for the food ordering platform market. Enabling our users to transact in crypto is an integral part of that journey.”

It should also be mentioned that the company is the first food delivery service to be powered by blockchain.

The move was possible thanks to an $8 million (~£5.8 million) investment round it ran in May, as well as a collaboration with Coinpayments, a multi-currency wallet enabling businesses to transact in cryptocurrencies. The offer will be available in more than 200 countries.

Bistroo won’t charge any commissions on crypto payments. Paying with BIST will also allow the customers to receive discounts on their orders.

Bistroo was launched in 2020. In less than two years the company helped merchants reach more than 25,000 customers, as well as process over $2.3 million (~£1.6 million) in orders. Merchants have full control over all payments, analytics, and orders.
Bistroo is another example of how a company can employ blockchain and cryptocurrencies for profit. The new payment options will allow for transparency since payment disputes are a major pain point for small businesses. Bistroo aims to establish itself as a global leader in PaaS e-commerce technology for restaurants.
