In 2021, a new Tip Jar feature became available to Twitter users, providing them with the opportunity to thank authors for interesting tweets and show support. Now it looks like Twitter is introducing a way for users to tip via Bitcoin.
Earlier this year Twitter adopted a new feature that allowed users to tip each other. Tip Jar also provided the opportunity to monetise accounts. The Tip Jar feature is available on Bandcamp, Cash App, Patreon, PayPal and Venmo.
Ubergizmo reports that the Twitter team did not stop there and it seems that soon users will be able to tip in BTC.
In July, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey told investors that BTC would be important to the company. He also added that in the near future, users would be able to support authors using this popular cryptocurrency. Now we can safely assume that this new feature is in the works. Currently, the released beta version is available only on iOS, but it is likely to appear on Android soon.
The exact launch date has not been revealed yet. It is expected that Twitter will also provide a detailed guide on how to tip in BTC, as well as how to use the Bitcoin Lightning Network, custodial and non-custodial wallets.
