A popular Australian cryptocurrency exchange CoinJar has signed a partnership agreement with the international payment system Mastercard so as to develop and issue a cryptocurrency card for Australians.

Getting acquainted

Founded in 2013, CoinJar appears to be one of the oldest digital currency exchanges supported by the world’s most famous investors, such as Blackbird Ventures, Boost VC and Digital Currency Group.

Visa and Mastercard are well known for their benevolence to the crypto industry. Both have already entered into partnerships with various crypto organisations to bring debit and credit crypto cards to the public.

While some companies haven’t yet recognised the significance of the innovative niche, the leaders of the payment market can’t afford a standstill.

Mastercard & crypto

The payment giant Mastercard is well-known not only for its memorable logo, but also for popularising digital assets throughout the globe. The company is frequently mentioned in crypto-related headlines and strives to provide crypto solutions to all countries and nations.

Mastercard has recently teamed up with CoinJar in order to create a crypto card for residents to spend their digital currencies in local stores.

CoinJar has already unveiled the details of the project, claiming Australians will be able to pay in crypto wherever Mastercard is accepted.

CoinJar Card

CoinJar Card is expected to be issued in both physical and digital formats and include Google Pay and Apple Pay support. Thirty coins will be unlocked, including leading cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP) and others.

Here’s a quick how-to: choose the cryptocurrency you want to pay with and the CoinJar exchange will automatically convert it to AUD, which will be in turn transferred to sellers and service providers.

“CoinJar Card is free to activate, has no monthly fees and a low 1% transaction fee – returned to you as CoinJar Rewards every time you spend,” the company’s official blog post follows.

According to CoinJar CEO Asher Tan, the project’s global mission is to make crypto fully embraced by the world.

Cheer up, Australia! Crypto novelties are coming. Mastercard is there for Aussies having partnered with the local expert CoinJar to bring the joy of crypto to the whole country.
