Yearn Finance (YFI) issues a grant to Atlantis World
Yearn Finance, a community-driven portal to various decentralised finance (DeFi) products, plans to facilitate the development of 2D pixel metaverses by investing in Atlantis World, the first metaverse enabling interactive community spaces powered by secure DeFi.
DeFi developers seem to be really into metaverses lately. The plan is to give users new ways of interaction beyond famous messengers that dominate the space today.
Yearn has decided to support this idea by funding Atlantis World. The company makes two-dimensional, lightweight digital worlds due to creators’ belief that they can make DeFi investing feel more like a game.
Attracting more attention to DeFi
“We think the metaverse will play a big role in the future of decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs) and culture as we connect, gamify, and evolve the ecosystem,” said company’s representatives.
Yearn is famous for being one of the leading DeFi organisations, so this move will likely spur others to follow.
Atlantis World believes that the current market situation is too complicated to help bring new users in. And through the grant, Yearn agrees.
The size of the grant was not disclosed, and details are sparse at this point. But some insight can be gleaned looking at Atlantis World’s presentation from last month. CJ Hetherington, the founder of Atlantis World, has shown a demo of the concept in his presentation. It has graphics reminiscent of classic 90s open world video games; there’s some attempt to create the illusion of 3D but in fact the avatar is moving around a flat space.
Yearn Finance has issued a grant to Atlantis World to help build a 2d pixel metaverse in order to attract more users to the crypto industry.
I went full time crypto back in June 2018, and have never looked back. I want to help persuade as many people as possible to come and build the decentralised future! Let’s go!
