Today is Sunday, 12th September, which means it’s time to announce the NFT of this week!
In the NFT of the Day series, we review and discuss works of digital art from both aspiring creators and renowned professional artists. However, fame is not the criterion we follow reviewing the pieces. The key parameters are the depth of the idea and the ability to convey it. So, even if you haven’t yet achieved worldwide recognition, here you are on a level playing field with those who have!
To see the previous instalment of the NFT of the Week, follow the link. So, here we go!
Before we announce the main NFT of this week, we want to remind you that all the works we are considering are remarkable in their own way. We do not aim to name one piece the best while belittling the merits of the other participating artists. Each of the works presented here is a masterpiece in which the creator has invested lots of their energy and a part of their soul. Our only goal is to revive in your memory the nominees of this week and then highlight the most memorable piece.
Our assessment is purely subjective, and your own view on the NFT of this week may differ greatly from what we will announce. You can share your opinion on Cointribune social networks.
So! It’s time to recall the NFTs we reviewed this week!
Long Haul is a two-second 8-bit pixel animation that paints a calm and soothing scene of a late-night homecoming.
“An ode to night-drives, skies and city lights” is how Moertel herself described her work on her KnowOrigin page.
Dolos (spelt “Dolus” in Latin) is the spirit of lie and deceit in Greek mythology. This work is part of a series of three NFTs, each of which depicts a creature with a TV instead of the head.
A piece this deep and high-quality simply cannot leave anyone indifferent. A whole vast story with a charismatic and mysterious character in the centre of the whirlpool of the narrative.
This NFT is a 3D render in which a man with a burning head is trying to resist the voices in his head.
According to the artist, “Self doubt” is about dealing with feelings of uncertainty and the voice in your head that can discourage you from your true path.
Human nature is full of contradictions. Sometimes we love ourselves, but at the same time, we hate ourselves for what we are: our strengths and dreams, fears and doubts. This work is a magnificent illustration of all of this.
“This art basically sums up our history as humans. We don’t know where we’ve come from and where we’re going. Now is the only thing we know of. Life is now.”
The past is vague, and the future is hidden. All we can do is live here and now.
Meaningful work at the intersection of digital art and cinematography, “Present” is definitely worth your attention.
“The birth of art #170” by an OpenSea user ylzclk is an abstraction that symbolises the birth of art. And this piece is stunning, to say the least.
If the feeling of pleasure can have a visual incarnation, then “The birth of art #170” is definitely it. A whole boundless, chaotic, but at the same time harmonious universe, confined to a small image on the screen. Everyone is bound to find something personal in the piece.
And what do you see?
“Storm clouds explode from the surface of Lake Maracaibo in Northern Venezuela marking the onset of the nightly metamorphosis from a tropical paradise to the center of earth’s most raging lightning alley. The Catatumbo Lightning is born again, bound to transform the black night sky into the greatest heavenly firework one can imagine. Silence yields to the distant rumbling of thunder, vibrations travel like seismic shockwaves through the ground below our feet.”
“The Gates of Venezuela” is a landscape gorgeous in every respect. Pitch-black clouds dissected by a bright flash of imperturbable lightning are truly mesmerising. Unimaginable beauty and unsurpassed power of nature in one photo.
This week gifted us with six marvellous works of art, so, choosing the most memorable one is not an easy task.
Before we announce the NFT of the Week, we would like to repeat that our opinion is subjective and we make our decisions only based on personal impressions.
After careful consideration, we have narrowed down the range of works to “DOLOS II” and “The birth of art #170”. But don’t get us wrong – all of the creations we have reviewed this week are real masterpieces of digital art and deserve both the attention of the audience and the highest ratings.
The choice was tough! “The birth of art #170” becomes the NFT of the week. The competition was serious. However, this piece proved to be the most memorable for us. The boundless beauty and depth of thought largely contributed to this decision.
What do you think about these NFTs? Maybe you would like to contribute to the next NFT of the Day?
