Uphold announces XRP debit cards
Digital identity firm GlobaliD has teamed up with multi-asset exchange Uphold on a debit card that gives users cashback up to 5% in XRP.
According to FXStreet, Uphold users will be able to pay in fiat or digital currencies using the debit card, but the cashback will always be in XRP. They can either spend the tokens right away or hold them using GlobaliD Wallet. The wallet itself can be used for trading any digital assets.
At the moment only US citizens are able to issue such cards. Uphold CEO JP Thieriot has announced that these debit cards will be available in other countries in the near future as well. “We’re delighted to be supporting GlobaliD with the XRP debit card. The XRP community is one of the most engaged in the crypto sector and among Uphold’s most ardent users. It’s great that we’re able to give back through our support for this fantastic innovation,” he said.
XRP price eyes a higher high
Yesterday was an interesting day for Ripple traders. Although XRP price seemed like it would retest the immediate support level at $0.689, it has not. Investors can expect the bulls to gather steam after a retest of either $0.689 or the demand zone below it that extends from $0.623 to $0.671.
US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) continues to try to bring Ripple down. According to the agency, the company is selling XRP tokens illegally since the tokens are allegedly being sold as securities, which violates the 1993 Securities Act. Brad Garlinghouse’s lawyers are trying to de-escalate the situation as soon as possible by working with Binance and international authorities.
Uphold and GlobaliD have teamed up to launch Mastercard debit cards with cashback in XRP. This move is quite positive for Ripple Labs, promoting the adoption of its digital currency by allowing users to accumulate Ripple passively.
Back in 2017, when I started out in the crypto space it was 95% men and women were barely seen… and to be honest not much has changed, however there does seem to be light at the end of the tunnel. I am proud to represent women in this male dominated industry which is passionate and the future!
