Report: institutional investors ready to get into Bitcoin (BTC) and crypto

A new study confirms that institutional investors are ready to buy digital assets. These money monsters only have eyes for profit; the news sounds pretty bullish, right? Let’s jump right in!

Seasons change and so do we

Recent data shows that institutional investor interest in cryptocurrency and crypto-related businesses continues to grow. Fidelity Digital Assets, a company that offers custody and execution services for assets such as Bitcoin, tasked Coalition Greenwich with surveying 1,100 institutional investors. The objective of this survey was to get a better understanding of these investors’ perspectives on crypto and their medium and long term vision.

The results are clear as day: Most investors surveyed plan to buy digital assets and crypto in the future.

The survey was conducted between December 2020 and April 2021, and targeted the largest investment funds and financial institutions on the planet, according to Reuters. Although it might be appropriate to go back and survey the same participants once again since the market suffered a severe correction in late May. However, as shown by the start of the week, the crypto market knows how to recover and satisfy those who are patient.

A promising medium-term vision

The figures from this survey are also quite interesting: 70% of participants indicated they expect to invest in or buy digital assets within the next five years. We will then have experienced another halving, a periodic event that sets the market pace, and (knocking on wood here) takes a big step towards widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies.

Granted, the crypto market is still too volatile to be considered a safe investment for us mortals. It’s hard to invest £1,000 in a project and come back the next month with barely enough to afford a Happy Meal.

However, the big fish we’re talking about here come in with tens (if not hundreds) of millions of dollars. They aren’t afraid of sudden changes in the market: they are responsible for them. The real question, in my opinion, is not when or how much they want to invest, but rather how will they go about entering the ecosystem? Believe me, on that day, you’d better buckle up.
