The Tron network has just passed a new milestone with more than 400 million registered accounts. This growth comes less than three years after crossing 200 million accounts and confirms its rise. Since its launch in June 2018, the network has gradually established itself in stablecoin transfers. Its cumulative volume approaches 30 trillion dollars, while USDT is the main driver of this usage.

Illustration of TRON marking the milestone of 400 million accounts and the growth of its blockchain network.

In brief

  • TRON surpasses 400 million accounts after doubling its base in less than three years.
  • The network has processed more than 15.2 billion transactions, for a cumulative volume close to 30 trillion dollars.
  • USDT remains at the heart of activity, with 51.4% of USDT in circulation on TRON.
  • TRON Inc. now holds 711.5 million TRX after purchasing 145,199 additional tokens.

Tron doubles its number of accounts in less than three years

The TRON network launched its genesis block in June 2018. It took four years to reach the first 100 million accounts. Then growth accelerated, crossing 200 million in the fourth quarter of 2023. The milestone of 300 million came in the second quarter of 2025, before a growth of 100 million in just a few months.

On August 23, Tron surpassed 400 million accounts. This milestone shows an increase in the registered base since the network’s launch. Daily data, thus, provides a different perspective on the effective use of the blockchain.

Since its launch, the network has processed more than 15.2 billion transactions according to TRANSCAN data. Its total transfer volume approaches 30 trillion dollars. This activity places the network among the most active settlement systems in the global crypto sector to date. The evolution of the TRX price does not change this measure, which is based on operations performed on the network.

USDT concentrates activity and supports payments

The network’s growth seems mainly linked to stablecoins, notably USDT. Tron currently manages 51.4% of all USDT in circulation. This amount reached 94.2 billion dollars this week, after an increase of about 3 billion in a single day. These figures show the growing weight of digital dollar transfers on the blockchain.

Over the last 30 days, the Tron network currently records an average of 4.64 million active accounts each day. At the same time, the blockchain adds about 170,000 new addresses per day. This momentum remains high and shows that Tron maintains intense activity related to payments and stablecoin movements.

According to a report from Bitcoin News, Tron already captures 52% of low-value USDT transfers worldwide. This share suggests a crucial use for retail payments and cross-border transfers. However, daily activity data show a more nuanced situation compared to other networks.

Growth to be put into perspective with activity

Reaching 400 million accounts exceeds the cumulative figures of some older networks. Yet Ethereum retains a clear lead when looking at daily active addresses. More than 500,000 addresses perform transactions there each day, against about 350,000 for Bitcoin. The total number of accounts and daily activity therefore do not exactly describe the same reality.

In this context, Tron pursues a trajectory mainly oriented towards payments and stablecoin transfers. This specialization explains part of its importance in USDT settlements. It remains to be determined whether this use can gradually extend to other segments of on-chain finance. Future development will notably depend on the network’s ability to broaden uses beyond transfers between wallets.

Moreover, Tron Inc., the corporate treasury branch of the network, has purchased 145,199 additional TRX. The company paid, on average, 0.3444 dollars per token, raising its holdings to 711.5 million TRX. Their value reaches about 245 million dollars. At the time of writing, the TRX price was trading near 0.3344 dollars, for a capitalization of about 32.6 billion.

In the short term, the account growth confirms a continuous expansion of the ecosystem. However, the comparison with Ethereum shows that cumulative size is not sufficient to measure a network’s vitality. Tron will therefore need to demonstrate whether its role in USDT payments can support broader diversification. Usage evolution will especially measure the real scope of this new milestone.
