Bitget Expands Anthropic IPO Access to Retail Investors Ahead of Public Listing
Bitget is giving eligible retail investors a chance to get in on Anthropic’s IPO through its IPO Prime platform, starting November 5. But there’s a catch: VIP subscribers must pay a 12% upfront fee, even though the exchange says historical allocation rates range from 40% to 80%.

In Brief
- Anthropic becomes the third company featured on Bitget’s IPO Prime, following SpaceX and OpenAI, ahead of a Nasdaq listing that still has no confirmed price.
- The VIP round runs from November 5 to 9, with a $1 billion subscription cap and a 12% upfront fee. The Public round follows with a $200 million cap and a 5% fee.
- Anthropic filed its IPO paperwork on October 26 and amended it on November 2. Meanwhile, market estimates suggest a potential valuation of up to $1.75 trillion.
Two Subscription Rounds, Two Very Different Deals
Anthropic filed its S-1 registration statement on October 26. Just nine days later, Bitget opened subscriptions through IPO Prime.
The VIP round begins November 5 at 08:00 UTC and closes November 9 at the same time. It comes with a $1 billion total subscription cap, a $3 million individual limit, and a $100 minimum. Bitget expects settlement within three to five business days after the listing.
The Public round starts November 10 at 08:00 UTC and remains open until 08:00 UTC on the day before the IPO. This time, Bitget sets the total cap at $200 million and limits individual subscriptions to $25,000. The minimum remains $100.
Both rounds accept USDT and USDGO. However, final allocations depend on available shares and the confirmed IPO schedule. Bitget also says it will refund unused subscription funds under the offering terms.
The 12% Fee: Access Comes at a Price
Here’s where things get interesting. Bitget charges the VIP fee upfront, regardless of how much of the requested allocation investors eventually receive.
The exchange cites historical VIP allocation rates between 40% and 80%. At those levels, a 12% fee translates into an effective cost of 15% to 30% on the capital actually invested.
Consider a $10,000 subscription. If Bitget allocates 60% of the requested amount, the investor pays $1,200 in fees to secure $6,000 worth of exposure.
The Public round looks cheaper, with a 5% fee. However, allocations appear less predictable. At a 40% allocation rate, that fee represents 12.5% of the amount actually deployed.
For comparison, a traditional brokerage typically charges no upfront fee simply to place a limit order. Bitget, therefore, sells access rather than execution. And that access certainly isn’t free.
There’s also one important detail missing from the announcement: Bitget explains that it refunds unallocated subscription funds, but doesn’t clarify whether the upfront fee receives the same treatment when an investor gets less than requested.
Anthropic’s Billion-Dollar Ambitions Meet a Multi-Layer Structure
Anthropic filed its IPO paperwork on October 26 and submitted an amendment on November 2. Bitget points to market estimates that place the company’s potential valuation as high as $1.75 trillion. However, Anthropic hasn’t confirmed that figure, and underwriters haven’t established an official IPO price.
The subscription mechanism also deserves attention. Bitget works with participating institutional funds and brokers to process subscriptions. Once the transaction settles, designated brokerage and custody partners hold the allocated shares and issue corresponding rANT tokens to eligible users.
This arrangement gives investors exposure without requiring them to open a traditional brokerage account. However, it also introduces three intermediaries: the fund, the broker, and the custodian.
Bitget has already tested this model. The exchange launched IPO Prime with OpenAI, before adding SpaceX. Anthropic now becomes the platform’s third offering, as Bitget continues expanding its tokenized equity services.
Ultimately, investors must decide whether a 12% entry fee makes sense for access to a highly anticipated IPO. With allocation rates varying so widely, getting a piece of Anthropic could prove considerably more expensive than the headline figures suggest.
