The twelfth edition of the European Blockchain Convention takes place on September 16 and 17, 2026, in Barcelona. This year, the event is embracing its institutional shift more than ever: banks, asset managers and market infrastructures take center stage, with BlackRock, Swift, State Street and Citi on the program. Here is what to expect, how much admission costs, and the code reserved for the Cointribune community.

European Blockchain Convention Barcelona: Dates and Exclusive Promotion

Key Points

  • European Blockchain Convention 12 takes place on September 16-17, 2026, in Barcelona, at Torre Melina (Gran Meliá).
  • The organizer expects more than 6,000 attendees and 300 speakers.
  • The 2026 positioning is openly institutional: “where Europe does business in digital assets.”
  • Speakers include digital asset executives from BlackRock, Swift, State Street, Citi, BNP Paribas and Deutsche Bank, as well as Stani Kulechov (Aave) and the Cardano Foundation.
  • The community code INATBA_15 provides a 15% discount on the current rate (excluding VAT).

An event designed for finance moving on-chain

The European Blockchain Convention has never hidden its ambition: to bring together, over two days, an ecosystem usually scattered across Europe’s financial centers. The promise can be summed up in one image, that of a “deal floor” where traditional banks and digital asset players meet under the same roof.

The 2026 program takes this logic to its conclusion. While many crypto events put protocols and tokens in the spotlight, EBC places institutions at the center. The list of announced speakers confirms this unambiguously: Nikhil Sharma (BlackRock), Tom Zschach (Swift), Kim Hochfeld (State Street), Nadine Teychenne and Ryan Rugg (Citi), David Calabaza (BNP Paribas), Immo Garlichs (Deutsche Bank), Kathleen Wrynn (Invesco), Previn Singh (Fidelity International). In other words, the “digital assets” executives of major asset managers and custodian banks, not just startup founders.

The crypto-native world is not absent, however. Stani Kulechov, founder of Aave, the Cardano Foundation, and Animoca Brands are among those on the lineup, alongside the UK regulator FCA. It is precisely this mix of TradFi, crypto natives and regulators that constitutes the central argument of this edition.

Deal Floor, Startup Battle and allocator breakfasts

The format is designed for networking. On the agenda: an expanded exhibition area, a networking app that makes it possible to identify the right contacts and schedule meetings in advance, closed-door peer roundtables, and an “LP breakfast” reserved for allocators, asset managers and family offices. The Startup Battle, meanwhile, puts the spotlight on emerging market infrastructure companies.

This is therefore not a festival in the broad sense, but a dense business gathering based in a hotel, Torre Melina, rather than on a beach. The organizer openly embraces this different dynamic, focusing on longer conversations and an environment conducive to negotiation. For readers looking for general-public educational content, this is worth bearing in mind: EBC primarily targets industry professionals.

A word of caution, as the event itself points out: investment in cryptoassets is unregulated, may not be suitable for retail investors, and the entire amount invested may be lost. The presence of a platform or issuer on stage is part of an industry debate, never a recommendation.

How much does it cost and what does the community code change?

Three pass levels are available, all covering both days and all excluding VAT (10%). The General Pass starts at €500 at the Early Bird rate, then €750 for Regular and €1,800 for Late Bird. The VIP Pass adds lunch with speakers, the opening party on September 15 and access to the Speaker Lounge, starting at €800. The Tiger Pass, designed for business development, includes access to the attendee list and three one-to-one meetings, starting at €2,499.

An important detail: prices increase in stages as the date approaches, and a countdown on the website indicates that the Early Bird period will end soon. It is therefore better to book early. Payment is possible in euros as well as in crypto.

With the code INATBA_15, the Cointribune community receives a 15% discount on the current rate, which means that a General Pass at the Early Bird rate costs approximately €425 instead of €500 (excluding VAT). The code is applied at checkout. As always, the ticket does not cover travel or accommodation in Barcelona.

The real question raised by this edition remains: if the digital asset executives from BlackRock, Swift and State Street are making the trip, it means tokenization is moving beyond the experimental stage. What is said behind closed doors during the roundtables on September 16 and 17 will reveal more about the actual timeline of this transition than any press release. The date is set.

👉 To book at the −15% community rate (code INATBA_15), go to the official ticketing page. Remember to enter the code before payment; prices increase as the event approaches.
