Bitcoin Remains Bullish Despite Heavy Profit-Taking
According to CryptoQuant data, bitcoin holders have realized 110,000 BTC of net profits since August 19. Such profit-taking follows a rally that drove the price from under 65,000 dollars to over 82,000 dollars. Bitcoin is now trading around 80,000 dollars, while many indicators point to a slowdown in demand. Thus, the risk of correction increases, but the overall trend is not yet bearish.

In brief
- Bitcoin holders have realized 110000 BTC of net profits since August 19.
- The daily peak of realized profits reached 23000 BTC on August 21.
- Demand slows after the rally that took bitcoin above 82000 dollars.
- US demand weakens, with Coinbase Premium returning to negative territory.
- The 83000 dollar threshold is the main resistance to overcome.
Four indicators signal a loss of momentum
While crashes decrease, on August 21, net realized profits amounted to around 23,000 BTC. In fact, this is the highest daily level this year. Their total reaches 110,000 BTC since August 19.
This statistic does not mean that 110,000 bitcoins were necessarily sold on exchanges. The indicator measures profits linked to bitcoins moved at a price higher than their value during their previous transfer. Various movements therefore correspond to internal operations or transactions between wallets, according to the CryptoQuant report.
Multiple statistics summarize the current market tensions :
- 110000 BTC of net profits have been realized since August 19 ;
- The daily peak reached 23000 BTC on August 21 ;
- Apparent demand briefly rose by 43000 BTC before contracting again ;
- The Coinbase Premium index returned to negative territory, around -0.05.
At the current price, 110000 BTC represent nearly 8.8 billion dollars. This conversion provides a rough scale but does not correspond to the exact profit realized. Profits were calculated at different prices during the period.
US demand no longer supports the rebound
Bitcoin had gained more than 20% between August 19 and 21. Its price rose from under 65000 dollars to around 80000 dollars. Then, it surpassed 82000 dollars before being rejected and falling back below 80000 dollars.
This rapid increase allowed investors who entered lower to secure part of their gains. For CryptoQuant, such a phenomenon represents a classic cooling phase following a rebound.
The analytics company reveals in its report:
It is a characteristic of a bullish cooldown. The signal remains positive, as profits are realized during a strength phase, but their concentration can limit short-term upside.
However, the decline in apparent demand reinforces caution. This data measures the net accumulation of bitcoins by active holders. After an expansion of 43000 BTC, its pace returned to negative.
Signs of weakness are also observed in US demand. Regarding the Coinbase Premium index, it compares the bitcoin price on the exchange to that on other platforms. A negative value signals that American buyers pay slightly less, indicating weaker demand.
Three previous periods of weakness in this indicator have already limited bitcoin gains in 2026. Continued profit-taking without buyer return would increase selling pressure.
The 83000 dollar threshold for bitcoin remains decisive
Data does not yet confirm the start of a new bear market. Thus, CryptoQuant’s Bull Score is around 70, above the historical threshold of 60 associated with sustainable bullish phases.
CryptoQuant estimates: “the overall picture remains constructive. Bitcoin remains in the early phase of a new bull market, even if short-term momentum slows.”
Now, the main resistance is around 83000 dollars. This level corresponds to the 365-day moving average, which already stopped the price in May.
According to analysts, “the official bull market will begin when the price closes above its 365-day moving average.” A sustained close above 83000 dollars would thus reduce the risk of a significant correction.
Conversely, holding below 80000 dollars, followed by further profit-taking and negative demand, could weaken the rise. The 110000 BTC realized then represent a short-term caution signal, but not yet proof of a durable bearish reversal.
