Summarize this article with:

In August, Dogecoin temporarily rose by 21.4%, its best monthly performance since January 2026. During the second half of this month, DOGE benefited from a strong increase to reach 0.10 dollar. However, the crypto lost part of its gains. This rebound does not, however, end its annual downward trend. The crypto still suffers a decline of nearly 27% since January and remains significantly below its 2025 peak.

The cryptocurrency Dogecoin is personified as a muscular sprinter, with a large DOGE coin embedded in his chest. He violently bursts through a mechanical barrier displaying 21.4%. The character occupies about two-thirds of the image, body projected forward, expression euphoric and determined.

In brief

  • Dogecoin temporarily gains 21.4% in August, its best monthly performance since January.
  • DOGE jumped nearly 44%, rising from about 0.069 to 0.0996 dollar.
  • The price failed to permanently break the 0.10 dollar threshold, before stabilizing around 0.086 dollar.
  • Despite this rebound, Dogecoin remains down about 27% since January.
  • A positive close in August would end three consecutive months of decline.

DOGE rises by 21.4 % in August

The crypto market is no longer in extreme fear. Thus, according to CryptoRank data, DOGE’s monthly return was about 21.4% on August 29. This increase exceeds that of April, which was close to 15.6%.

Most of this performance occurred during the second half of the month. Thus, Dogecoin’s monthly return was only 0.9% on August 17. Then, its price quickly rose to nearly 0.069 dollar on August 19 to about 0.10 dollar a few days later.

The following figures provide more insight into this rebound :

  • DOGE temporarily gained 21.4% in August ;
  • Its price reached a monthly high near 0.0996 dollar ;
  • It then settled around 0.086 dollar ;
  • Its annual performance remains negative by about 27%.

The result observed this August is not yet final. However, statistics from on-chain analysis were published before the close on August 31. Significant fluctuation in the last sessions can thus change the final return.

Data also differs depending on the time and calculation method. Indeed, CryptoRank’s dashboard shows, on August 30, an increase of 23.9% over the past thirty days. This rolling measure does not exactly correspond to the return calculated between the first and last day of the month.

The crypto’s rise hit the 0.10 dollar threshold

DOGE gained nearly 44% between its level near 0.069 dollar and its peak at 0.0996 dollar. However, sellers prevented the price from sustaining a rebound beyond the psychological 0.10 dollar threshold.

Dogecoin also underwent a correction of almost 14% since this peak. This decline shows that some investors withdrew profits after the market rise.

The market surge coincided with a global recovery of altcoins as well as renewed interest in all investment products related to Dogecoin. Nonetheless, it should be noted that no event linked specifically to the protocol alone justifies the entire movement. This trend seems mainly due to a market rotation toward more speculative cryptos.

In this context, activity on derivative products also slowed after the peak. The open interest of perpetual contracts is currently near 15.7 billion DOGE, compared to 16.85 billion on August 17, according to information disclosed by FXStreet. This correction of nearly 7% indicates some speculative positions have been closed.

The best month of the year does not erase losses

Dogecoin had dropped 5.9% last May, 28.3% in June, and 3.4% in July. A positive close in August could thus end three consecutive months of decline.

Despite everything, the crypto remains far from its annual peak of 0.1551 dollar. From a price near 0.086 dollar, it would still need to gain nearly 80% to reach this level.

The close of this month and Dogecoin’s behavior around 0.10 dollar will allow conclusions on the strength of this recovery. A steady breakthrough of this threshold would certify an improvement in the movement, while a new rejection could maintain the risk of a decline toward levels seen before this August rise.
