Elon Musk denies urging Binance users to withdraw their funds amid rumors surrounding the platform's security.

In brief

  • Elon Musk denies having called Binance customers to withdraw their funds.
  • CZ denounces a false quote relayed by a crypto account on X.
  • Grok confirms that no corresponding post appears on Musk’s account.
  • This rumor comes after a hack of Binance estimated at 6.3 billion dollars.

Elon Musk denies a false statement about Binance

Saturday morning, an account specialized in cryptocurrencies relayed an alleged declaration by Elon Musk. According to this message, the billionaire blamed Binance for controlling 80% of the market. This dominance would hinder the development of cryptocurrencies and justify a transfer of funds to other platforms.

The post was also attributed to the Tesla CEO, the desire to drive up prices. It encouraged users to move their assets to competing platforms. However, its author did not share any link to an original statement. No element thus confirmed the statements attributed to the billionaire.

About an hour later, Changpeng Zhao reacted directly on X. The Binance founder asked the concerned account to stop spreading false information. He also shared a verification from Grok, the artificial intelligence assistant integrated into the platform. The tool found no corresponding post on Musk’s official account and concluded it was fabricated.

Elon Musk and CZ set the record straight after the rumor

After CZ’s intervention, Elon Musk replied in the same discussion. The billionaire stated he had never published such a statement. His denial therefore aligns with the position expressed by the Binance founder. The two men rejected a quote that nevertheless attributed opposing positions to them.

This joint reaction occurs despite several public disagreements between the two leaders. At the end of October, Elon Musk notably criticized the Binance hack on X. Their meme exchanges this week, following the accident mentioned in their discussions, also fueled their rivalry. This time, the two men defended the same observation: the quote was false.

The timing makes this rumor particularly sensitive. Binance still has to manage the consequences of an attack estimated at 6.3 billion dollars. In this context, a supposed call to withdraw funds could reinforce customers’ concerns. This false attribution thus risked amplifying doubts about the platform’s security.

A false alert in a sensitive context

Elon Musk’s influence on X thus lends a particular weight to statements attributed to him. Even without proof, a viral quote can quickly steer discussions. A call to withdraw funds presents more risks when it concerns a large exchange platform. Users must therefore distinguish facts from unverified claims.

Concerns go beyond the single case of Binance, however. Operations attributed to North Korean hackers reportedly resulted in the theft of several billion dollars from crypto companies this year. Michael Saylor, for his part, has warned about attacks hackers could carry out using artificial intelligence. These threats increase the focus on cybersecurity.

In this climate, every rumor complicates communication from platforms and their leaders. Elon Musk’s denial and CZ’s response show the importance of rapid verification. Grok also contributed to this exchange by reporting the absence of an original post. However, artificial intelligence tools do not replace consulting official statements.

The case therefore does not confirm any call by Elon Musk for the withdrawal of Binance funds. In the short term, attention should focus on the aftermath of the hack and verifiable information concerning the security of the platform. The rapid reaction of the parties involved will remain decisive in the face of new rumors. For customers, verifying the origin of a statement remains essential.
