It is now official. This Saturday April 25, 2026, Donald Trump will speak in front of a select group of investors gathered at his private residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.

Reuters confirmed Friday that the White House has approved his presence as the keynote speaker at the gala luncheon organized by the issuer of the official TRUMP memecoin.

Access to this event is anything but ordinary. Only the 297 largest holders of the TRUMP token in terms of accumulated rewards receive an invitation. Among them, the top 29 have an extra privilege: a private reception in the presence of the president himself. An ultra-closed circle, halfway between an investors’ club and a political lounge.

This is not the first event of its kind. A first dinner had already gathered token holders at a Trump golf club in May 2025, already triggering strong criticism. At the time, voices were raised condemning the use of the presidential office for personal enrichment. This time, the debate is back in full force.

It should be noted that a few weeks earlier, a White House official told Politico that Trump’s presence was not yet scheduled. The president had also announced his participation in the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington on the same day, a first since his return to power.

A token in free fall, a controversy on the rise

Behind the displayed prestige, the numbers tell another story. The TRUMP memecoin trades today around $2.86, about 96% below its all-time high. The VIP entry price, once close to $3 million, has fallen to about $300,000, not out of generosity, but because the token itself has collapsed.

Yet, upon announcement of the event, the price jumped about 40%. A well-known Pavlovian reflex in the crypto ecosystem: the token rises at the announcement, then falls once the show is over. Experienced investors know: here timing matters more than conviction.

The market structure further weakens the prospects. More than 90% of the total supply is concentrated in a handful of wallets. A single massive sale can be enough to shake the price. The TRUMP token acts less like a classic investment and more like an access badge, a social marker for those who want to sit at the table of power.

This is precisely what Democratic senators Elizabeth Warren, Richard Blumenthal, and Adam Schiff denounce. In a letter addressed to Bill Zanker, the event organizer, they point out a practice they consider unacceptable: using the presidency to encourage the purchase of an asset from which Trump and his family directly receive transaction fees. According to them, promising access to the president to sell a memecoin crosses a clear ethical line.

The Mar-a-Lago gala crystallizes everything that divides America about crypto and power: fascination, speculation, and mixed suspicions. While the TRUMP token wavers and senators question, one question remains: how far can access to the White House be monetized?
