135,694 Crypto Millionaires, Including 92,272 Made by Bitcoin
The number is impressive, but it is an estimate. 92,272 people are believed to hold at least 1 million dollars in Bitcoin, according to Henley & Partners’ Crypto Wealth Report 2026. In total, the firm counts 135,694 millionaires in digital assets. Bitcoin thus represents nearly 68% of this group. The calculation is stopped as of August 31, 2026, while BTC was still about 38% below its record of October 2025.

In brief
- Henley & Partners estimates the number of Bitcoin millionaires at 92,272.
- The report lists 135,694 crypto millionaires, 290 centi-millionaires, and 23 billionaires.
- About 371 million people are believed to hold Bitcoin worldwide today.
Bitcoin represents 92,272 millionaires out of a total of 135,694
The first clarification is important: Henley & Partners did not just count wallets showing more than one million dollars. As of August 31, 12.82 BTC were enough to cross the one million dollar threshold used by the study. The blockchain then had 123,222 addresses above this value. But one Bitcoin address does not necessarily correspond to one person. Indeed, an investor can spread their BTC across several wallets. Conversely, a single exchange address can represent the holdings of thousands of clients.
Henley therefore adjusts the on-chain data to remove especially addresses assigned to exchanges and funds, bitcoins considered lost, and duplicates related to the same owner. The firm arrives at about 61,272 direct holders.
It then adds millionaire investors exposed only through ETFs to reach 92,272 people. The published statistical range is wide: 74,000 to 114,000. In other words, 92,272 is not a nominal census. It is the central estimate of the report.
151 Bitcoin fortunes would exceed 100 million dollars
Higher up the pyramid, the numbers quickly shrink. Henley estimates 290 people own at least 100 million dollars in digital assets. Among them, 151 would cross this threshold solely with their holdings in bitcoin.
There would then be 23 crypto billionaires worldwide. Nine would be billionaires thanks to Bitcoin, with an estimated range between 7 and 14. Bitcoins held by companies like Strategy are not counted as personal fortune.
The entire market was worth about 2.62 trillion dollars as of August 31, including 1.56 trillion for Bitcoin. Once stablecoins are removed from the calculation, BTC represented 68% of the market value retained by Henley. This is also the ratio partly used to estimate the total number of crypto millionaires.
These fortunes were measured while Bitcoin was far from its peak. BTC had exceeded 126,000 dollars in October 2025. At the end of August 2026, its value remained about 38% lower.
The report actually avoids a direct comparison with its previous edition. Its methodology changed in 2026. Henley therefore specifies that it does not publish any annual evolution of the number of millionaires. Claiming this group has increased by X% in one year would be misleading.
371 million people are believed to hold Bitcoin
Millionaires remain a small fraction of the market. Henley estimates the number of digital asset holders worldwide at 742 million. Half, about 371 million people, would own Bitcoin. To arrive at this figure, the firm particularly uses the 4.9% growth in the number of funded Bitcoin addresses between August 2025 and August 2026.
The wealth created around BTC is also beginning to interest private management more. Several professionals anticipate an increase in exposure to digital assets, and wealth managers are already preparing new allocations.
Finally, the 92,272 millionaires must be placed back within their margin of error. Fortunes held on private wallets do not come with a name, a passport, and a bank statement. ETFs make the calculation even more complicated.
Henley thus proposes 92,272 as a central estimate, not as an exact counter. The number remains telling: even with Bitcoin still significantly below its 2025 peak, several tens of thousands of people today hold a seven-figure fortune directly or indirectly linked to BTC.
