Bitcoin Faces A Decisive Week With Fed And Big Tech
While Wall Street wobbles under the weight of profit-taking on artificial intelligence giants, the crypto market refuses to give in to panic. This unexpected resistance fuels a change in perception among investors, who see a dynamic distinct from that of tech stocks emerging. This sequence takes on a particular dimension as a decisive week approaches, marked by the Federal Reserve meeting, the publication of the PCE index, and the results of major Tech companies.

In brief
- Bitcoin resists at $65,000 and gains 4% despite Nvidia and AI sell-off.
- The ETH/BTC ratio reaches a three-month high, perceived as a bullish indicator by Bitmine and Fundstrat.
- Nansen points to low buying volumes and declining open interest, anticipating a risk of a return between $52,000 and $58,000.
- The market remains suspended on the Fed’s speech, PCE inflation data, and major Tech giants’ results.
A remarkable technical resistance against the pullback of tech stocks
While Nvidia shares fell 4.8% pulling down all the favorites of the artificial intelligence sector, the bitcoin price firmly remained around the $65,000 threshold, even showing a 4% increase compared to the previous Friday. This firmness was accompanied by a spectacular performance of Ether, whose ETH/BTC ratio climbed to a three-month high, materializing a renewed targeted appetite for the market’s second cryptocurrency. Faced with this singular behavior while the Nasdaq remained practically flat thanks to the support of companies like Apple, Microsoft, and Google, this emancipation phase rests on three major factors :
- The beginning of macroeconomic decoupling : Joel Kruger, market strategist at LMAX Group, estimates that “the recent crypto resilience during periods of volatility in traditional markets is an encouraging development. It supports the argument that assets are starting to decouple, at least marginally, from conventional risk assets” ;
- A bullish signal carried by Ether : Tom Lee, chairman of Bitmine and co-founder of Fundstrat, also highlighted that Ether’s strength against bitcoin is an underlying bullish signal for the entire crypto sector ;
- An absorption of external volatility : the observed flows indicate a temporary capacity of the crypto sphere to absorb the tech sector’s decline without giving in to panic, supported by an internal capital rotation that avoided a mechanical synchronous drop with chip and AI infrastructure stocks.
A recovery lacking buying conviction
Behind this apparent firmness, several specialists call for extreme caution and question the fundamental strength of this rebound. Nicolai Sondergaard, senior research analyst at Nansen, observes that the recent price rise is not accompanied by the usual buying conviction seen in sustainable bullish phases. According to his analysis, “the market maintains its range without strong buyers, it does not build the foundations for a bullish breakout”. The analyst further specifies that his central scenario remains a price pullback towards the range between $52,000 and $58,000, unless there is a clear and measurable improvement in fundamental market conditions.
A thorough examination of market data and on-chain behavior confirms the existence of underlying weaknesses. Although nearly 9,000 BTC left exchange platforms during the past week, open interest on bitcoin futures fell as prices climbed, showing that traders are reducing risky exposures rather than placing new buying bets. Additionally, order books continue to reflect net selling pressure. Nansen warns that before becoming more constructive on bitcoin’s trajectory, the market will need to see sustained stablecoin inflows into exchanges, continuous purchases via Bitcoin spot ETFs, as well as the end of loss-selling by long-term holders.
The decisive Fed deadline and strategic levels of the bitcoin market
The final arbitration of this sequence will depend on the decisions of the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy committee and the battery of expected macroeconomic indicators. On a purely technical level, Joel Kruger recalls that bitcoin must decisively break through the resistance at $67,300 to escape the consolidation phase that has restrained prices since June, while Ether faces an equivalent test at the psychological level of $2,000. Crossing these thresholds would mark the start of a new rise.
Beyond the interest rate decision, investors will face a particularly busy week of major economic releases, including core PCE inflation data, second-quarter GDP figures, as well as the financial results of Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple. Added to this is the Friday deadline for a massive volume of options on Bitcoin and Ether representing about $13 to $14 billion.
If Fed communications disappoint liquidity expectations, the market could quickly rejoin its lows from June. The recent resistance against the tech sector thus appears as a tactical position rebound to be approached with great caution before the definitive alignment of macroeconomic catalysts.
