Bitcoin Whales Sit Tight Ahead Of A Crucial Week

Getting informed Bitcoin (BTC)
Summarize this article with:

Over the past week, about 5.23 million BTC have been held by bitcoin whales. Their waiting precedes many decisions capable of moving the price out of its range between 77500 and 80000 dollars.

In a gigantic underwater financial infrastructure, a massive whale dominates the scene, resting its fin on an enormous mechanical valve it has just closed. Just behind it, a gigantic transparent tank is already filled with thousands of Bitcoin coins. The pipe that fed it now drops only a few last coins. In the foreground, a trader in an exploration suit observes the valve in amazement.

In Brief

  • Bitcoin whales hold 5.23 million BTC and favor waiting.
  • Bitcoin remains stuck in a range between 77500 and 80000 dollars.
  • Data on US inflation could change expectations on rates.
  • Decisions by the Fed and the Bank of Japan could impact markets.
  • The procedural vote on the CLARITY Act adds regulatory uncertainty.

Bitcoin Whales Freeze Their 5.23 Million BTC

The holdings of large Bitcoin addresses have hardly moved over seven days. Analyst Ali Martinez identified this stability through Santiment’s data.

Such a finding does not mean the whales made no transactions. Acquisitions and disposals can offset in the total balance. It mainly reveals the absence of significant net accumulation or distribution.

This caution precedes five important deadlines :

  • The US producer price report is due on September 10 ;
  • Consumer inflation will be published on September 11 ;
  • The Senate plans a procedural vote on the CLARITY Act on September 15 ;
  • The Federal Reserve will announce its monetary decision on September 16 ;
  • The Bank of Japan will then pronounce on its own rates.

These events partly justify the expression “ten chaotic days” used. They may change bond yields, the dollar, and investors’ appetite for cryptos.

Inflation Could Separate the Fed and Markets

Traders estimated nearly 60% probability of a US rate hike in September. Yet, many economists surveyed anticipated maintaining the key rate.

Inflation figures could separate these two scenarios. An index above projections would strengthen the hypothesis of monetary tightening. Bond yields would then rise and exert new pressure on bitcoin.

Conversely, a price slowdown would reduce rate hike expectations. This scenario would support risky assets, though it could not guarantee immediate BTC movement.

Oil tensions complicate forecasts. Thus, Brent surpassed 100 dollars, while rising energy prices fuel inflation fears. According to some data, markets are also watching a possible rate hike in Japan.

A restrictive decision from the Bank of Japan would strengthen the yen and reduce certain transactions financed in this currency. This rise could trigger sales across several markets, including cryptos.

The CLARITY Act Adds Political Uncertainty

The US Senate must also consider a motion related to the CLARITY Act on September 15. This vote aims to limit debate and allow formal examination of the text.

It is therefore not a final vote on the law. This motion requires 60 votes, while Republicans have 53 seats. Democratic or independent support remains essential.

Its adoption would improve the regulatory outlook for the US crypto sector. A rejection or further delay would rather reinforce doubts about Congress’s ability to pass the text this year.

This political deadline may affect sentiment, although its effect remains difficult to isolate. Inflation data and the Fed’s decision will keep a more direct influence on global liquidity.

Bitcoin Remains Stuck Below $80000

Bitcoin has been trading between 77500 and 80000 dollars for nearly a week. Every attempt to exceed the upper bound failed, while buyers defended the lower zone.

This strengthening does not allow predicting the direction of the next breakout. A sustained close above 80000 dollars would strengthen the bullish scenario. However, a break below 77500 dollars would open the way to a significant correction.

The immobility of Bitcoin whales thus represents a waiting signal, not an immediately bearish sign. One week of stability is also too short to confirm a coordinated strategy of large holders.

Their reaction after the release of inflation data and the Fed meeting could provide more information. A simultaneous increase in their holdings and inflows into Bitcoin ETFs could support a recovery scenario. A net distribution around 80000 dollars would rather indicate persistent resistance.
