Bitcoin: The Incredible Twist In The Craig Wright Case, The Fake Satoshi
The UK Court of Appeal has just rejected Craig Wright’s attempt to challenge the decision stating that he was not Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. The court notably noted that the appeal arguments contained “multiple lies” and “fake authorities.”
The court blocks Craig Wright’s appeal in the Bitcoin creator case
The decision was made on November 29, 2024, in London. The British Court of Appeal harshly dismissed Craig Wright’s request for permission to appeal, which contested the ruling of the High Court made last May.
The judge formally rejected the Australian computer scientist’s claims of being the mysterious creator of Bitcoin. In its analysis, the court characterized some of Wright’s legal arguments, notably the “Anderson v the Queen” case, as “AI-generated hallucinations.”
This decision marks a decisive turning point in the legal saga that has pitted Wright against the crypto community since 2016. The judges were particularly harsh, declaring that “the appeals have no chance of success” given Wright’s lack of credibility.
The initial case was brought by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), which accused Wright of fabricating evidence to support his claims of being Satoshi Nakamoto.
The end of an eight-year controversy
Since 2016, Craig Wright, an Australian computer scientist born in 1970, has maintained that he is the creator of Bitcoin under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. This claim has earned him the nickname “Faketoshi” within the crypto community, which has always questioned his statements.
Over the years, Wright has multiplied defamation lawsuits against various figures in the crypto world, notably Hodlonaut, Vitalik Buterin, and Peter McCormack. Most of these lawsuits have ended in failure, reinforcing skepticism around his claims.
This latest judicial defeat seems to mark the definitive end of Wright’s claims to be the creator of Bitcoin, leaving the mystery surrounding the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto intact.
The identity of the true creator of Bitcoin thus remains one of the greatest mysteries in the history of cryptocurrencies. Despite numerous theories and investigations, including a recent HBO documentary suggesting the involvement of developer Peter Todd, the Satoshi Nakamoto enigma remains unsolved.
