Getting informed Blockchain

Brave opens a new chapter of the internet by empowering users to control their digital identity. With “.brave“, simplify your crypto interactions and dive into a decentralized Web where sovereignty, security, and freedom are no longer empty words but an accessible reality.

In Brief

  • Brave launches “.brave,” a blockchain domain on Polygon, ensuring digital identity control.
  • “.brave” replaces complex crypto addresses with human-readable names, compatible with Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana.
  • Integrated into the Brave browser and wallet from August 2025, it simplifies identity management and crypto payments.

Brave launches the first on-chain domain for its users

Brave revolutionizes digital identity with the launch of “.brave“, a native blockchain top-level domain (TLD) available to over 85 million active users. Minted on Polygon, this NFT-form domain offers several advantages. First, full ownership. Then it is renewal-free and guarantees holders real control over their digital identity.

Moreover, its compatibility with major blockchains such as Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, Base, or Sonic facilitates navigation and crypto transactions in an extensive decentralized ecosystem. This LTD domain thus simplifies sending cryptocurrencies by replacing complex addresses with readable names. Making the experience more intuitive and secure.

Crypto payments made easy with native integration

The integration of .brave into the Brave browser and wallet, starting with version 1.81 planned for August 2025, offers a unified and simplified user experience. Users will be able to:

  • Replace long crypto addresses with easy-to-remember human-readable names;
  • Directly access decentralized sites hosted on IPFS, without fees or intermediaries;
  • Manage their digital identity and crypto transactions via a single interface;
  • Send and receive cryptocurrencies with simple identifiers;
  • Benefit from improved security and sovereignty over their data and assets.

This alliance between browser and crypto tools makes Brave a bridge between traditional and decentralized internet, making Web3 accessible to everyone.

How to test a “.brave” domain today

Before the official launch in August 2025, it is already possible to experiment with using a domain through these steps:

  • Buy a “.brave” domain on Unstoppable Domains (minted on Polygon, no renewal fees);
  • Configure your domain to receive cryptos, create a UD.me profile or host a site on IPFS;
  • Download Brave Nightly, the development version of the browser;
  • Access your “.brave” domain via the address bar to test its resolution;
  • Use Brave Wallet to send or receive cryptos, with transaction simulation via Blowfish for added security.

Furthermore, Brave and Unstoppable Domains aim for ICANN registration in 2026, paving the way for the use of “.brave” on both classic Internet (Web2) and decentralized (Web3). This major step will strengthen the legitimacy of blockchain domains and ensure seamless interoperability between crypto networks like Ethereum, Bitcoin, or Solana.

Following in the footsteps of Google facilitating access to crypto .ETH balances in its search, Brave lays the foundation for an internet where users regain full control of their identity. This advancement could tip Web3 and crypto towards mainstream adoption. It remains to be seen if this decentralized revolution can compete with traditional Web giants.
