Getting informed Gaming

In the Web3 gaming space, gas fees have always been one of the main obstacles to mass adoption. Now, this challenge has been addressed within the Immutable ecosystem. The web3 gaming company, Immutable, has just launched the industry’s first blockchain that offers a Web3 gaming experience with zero transaction fees. Named zkVEM Immutable, it is a next-generation upgrade developed in collaboration with Polygon Labs. All the details to follow.

While gas fees are used to incentivize node operators to maintain blockchain security and decentralization, they deter players accustomed to traditional games. However, enthusiasts of games web3 within the Immutable ecosystem will no longer have to worry about this.

Indeed, in order to offer frictionless onboarding and a better user experience, Immutable will remove gas fees for web3 games in its ecosystem. The innovation will be operational from the beginning of 2024.

Web3 game developers will therefore be able to sponsor their players’ gas fees by paying between 500 and 1000 dollars for every 100,000 users. Immutable plans to cover these fees for all web3 games in its ecosystem and gradually pass on the costs to the developers.

Immutable Redefines the Concept of Game Economy in the Web3 Ecosystem

According to Alex Connolly, chief technical officer and co-founder of Immutable, “transaction fees are one of the barriers to the mass adoption of decentralized games.” He points out that Web3 games impose unfamiliar constraints on players accustomed to traditional games.

For example, they must ensure they have the native blockchain token in the correct wallet. They also need to visit exchanges to convert currencies and make sure they have funds every time they want to play a Web3 game.

The sponsorship of gas fees will allow blockchain technology components to become native and “offer players a familiar user experience.” Immutable claims that this system will increase adoption and overall revenue for gaming studios, which far exceeds gas fees. If this innovation goes into effect at the beginning of 2024 as planned, its impacts will be felt across the Web3 ecosystem, Ethereum network activity, and even the adoption of cryptocurrencies. Perhaps now is the time to invest.
