Institutional Investors Keep Accumulating XRP Despite Stagnation
XRP has remained stuck for several months. However, capital continues to flow into spot ETFs linked to Ripple. In May, these financial products recorded their best inflow of the year despite a market without a clear direction. Behind this apparent stagnation, several indicators show a gradual rise in activity around XRP, including institutional accumulation, increased volumes on derivative products, and acceleration of tokenization on the XRP Ledger.

In brief
- XRP spot ETFs recorded their best inflow of 2026 despite a price still stuck since February.
- Institutional investors are gradually increasing their exposure to XRP through Bitwise, Canary, and Franklin Templeton funds.
- Derivatives markets show strong activity with rising futures volumes and open interest on XRP.
- The XRP Ledger accelerates in asset tokenization and stablecoin transfers, a sign of growing network activity.
XRP ETFs attract capital despite a stuck market
Since February, XRP has been trading in a narrow range between $1.2753 and $1.6050, failing to start any real trend. This lack of direction has not deterred American investors.
Thus, XRP spot ETFs attracted $94 million in capital in May, compared to $81 million the previous month. Several signals show that American investors are accumulating XRP. The products managed by Bitwise, Canary, and Franklin Templeton now hold over $1.18 billion in assets.
Some numbers stand out in this dynamic :
- $94 million inflows to XRP ETFs during this month ;
- $1.18 billion in assets now held by XRP spot ETFs ;
- $362 million under management for the Bitwise fund ;
- $302 million for Canary XRPC ;
- $285 million for Franklin Templeton XRPZ ;
- 1.33 % of XRP’s total market capitalization is now held through these financial products.
This situation contrasts with reactions usually observed in the crypto market, where massive inflows into ETFs often cause rapid price increases. The hypothesis of a gradual accumulation phase emerges before a possible trend change.
The historical peak inflows on XRP ETFs remain far behind, with $499 million recorded in December, but subscription revival in May shows a visible return of institutional interest around Ripple.
Futures, tokenization, and technical signals reignite speculation
Alongside ETFs, several indicators show an intensification of activity around the XRP ecosystem. CoinGlass data reports a volume of $1.8 billion on XRP futures contracts in 24 hours, while the open interest now reaches $2.5 billion.
The spot market remains much quieter with $252 million in volume, highlighting activity mainly driven by derivatives. Thus, technical indicators suggest that XRP could be on the verge of a strong bullish breakout, referencing a double bottom pattern identified around $1.2753.
Moreover, there is also the evolution of the XRP Ledger, whose activity related to tokenization is progressing rapidly. The value of tokenized assets on the network increased by 7.7% over 30 days to reach $368 million. Also, stablecoin transfers on the network follow the same trajectory with a 45% rise over one month to $2.52 billion. This dynamic can be linked to the U.S. regulatory context and the progress of the CLARITY Act, approved by the Senate Banking Committee.
These various signals paint a more complex picture than simple price stagnation. Between institutional accumulation, rising derivatives markets, and development of the XRP Ledger in asset tokenization, Ripple seems to be moving through a phase of strategic transition. It remains to be seen whether this silent accumulation will lead to a sustained bullish breakout or if the market will continue to absorb these flows without immediate reaction on the XRP price.
