SpaceX, OpenAI, Anthropic: Capital May Flee Bitcoin

Getting informed Bitcoin (BTC)
Summarize this article with:

The crypto market faces a major challenge. While bitcoin asserts itself as the favorite speculative and reserve asset among hedge funds, unexpected competition is emerging from Silicon Valley. A gigantic wave of IPOs from AI and tech giants, estimated at $3 trillion, indeed threatens to massively divert institutional capital currently injected into bitcoin.

Investors torn between Bitcoin and artificial intelligence giants

In brief

  • SpaceX aims for an IPO capable of raising up to $75 billion.
  • OpenAI and Anthropic plan their stock market entries in 2026.
  • A rotation of capital from crypto assets to AI stocks is possible, but not certain.

SpaceX opens the ball as early as June 12

Among the three giants, SpaceX is the furthest along. Now merged with xAI, Elon Musk’s company would be aiming for a Nasdaq debut under the ticker SPCX as early as next June 12. The estimated valuation ranges between $1.75 trillion and $2 trillion. The IPO could raise up to $75 billion, making it one of the largest in stock market history.

ChatGPT creator OpenAI is expected to go public in the second half of 2026 with a private valuation already estimated at $852 billion. Some analysts anticipate surpassing the $1 trillion milestone at the IPO.

For its part, Anthropic filed a confidential S-1 filing with the SEC on June 1. The company targets a public offering before the end of the year.

Why could bitcoin face unexpected pressure?

Bitcoin has fallen 17% in two weeks and remains far from its late 2025 highs. At the time of writing this article, the BTC price stands at $63,600.

Historically, large IPOs push fund managers to rebalance their portfolios. The first positions to be reduced are often those seen as proxies, including Nvidia, Microsoft, or Alphabet.

Some analysts go further. They believe that crypto assets (other than bitcoin) could also be in the crosshairs, especially if AI IPOs attract capital seeking the next big growth trend. Michael Saylor himself recently acknowledged that enthusiasm for AI influences investor behavior.

One thing is certain: the capital attraction by future AI giants will force bitcoin to prove (once again!) its resilience. The coming months will offer a real-world test: the ability of global capital to choose between the promise of AI and that of cryptocurrencies.
