XRP And DOGE Losses May Reduce Profit-taking Pressure

Summarize this article with:

XRP and DOGE showed latent losses significantly higher than those of bitcoin and Ethereum according to information provided by Santiment. Such a signal can therefore contribute to reducing the risk of profit-taking, however it does not guarantee a rebound after their new drop.

Two exhausted investors occupy about two-thirds of the foreground in an immense financial infrastructure. The first carries a gigantic XRP coin on his back, while the second carries an enormous Dogecoin coin. Their suits are slightly worn and their faces are tired, but they keep moving forward. They are climbing a long, dark ramp leading toward an equilibrium platform bathed in orange light. They are still clearly below this platform. Under their feet, the ground is composed of downward-trending abstract charts, with no numbers or letters.

In brief

  • XRP and DOGE show clearly negative 365-day MVRVs.
  • Dogecoin shows stronger latent losses than XRP.
  • Bitcoin, Ethereum and Chainlink remain slightly above zero.
  • A negative MVRV can reduce pressure from profit-taking.
  • However, this indicator alone is not enough to confirm a bottom.

XRP and DOGE show the most negative MVRVs

The 365-day MVRV of XRP is close to -11.75%, while that of dogecoin falls to -19.26%. These values indicate that investors who moved their tokens over the past year are recording, on average, an unrealized loss.

The situation is different for bitcoin, Ether, and LINK. Indeed, their 365-day MVRVs are slightly above zero. The investors concerned therefore retain a modest average profit despite the recent market volatility.

The data provided by Santiment reveal many significant gaps :

  • XRP’s MVRV is at -11.75% ;
  • DOGE’s falls to -19.26% ;
  • Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Chainlink remain slightly above zero ;
  • XRP lost more than 7% in twenty-four hours ;
  • DOGE dropped nearly 6.6% over the same period.

Such figures place dogecoin in a more degraded situation than XRP. However, they do not signal that DOGE is immediately undervalued, as MVRV does not measure either a network’s revenues or its fundamental value.

A negative MVRV can limit profit-taking

MVRV compares the current value of tokens at the time of their last movement on the network. A positive ratio means an average latent profit. Conversely, a negative value reveals that the observed cohort holds its assets at a loss.

Such a configuration can become favorable when most potential sellers no longer have significant profits to secure. Relative pressure from profit-taking then reduces. Some investors may also consider the correction an accumulation opportunity.

Santiment therefore estimates:

The deeper the losses compared to other assets, the more interesting the configuration can become.

However, the company indicates that a slightly positive MVRV does not immediately turn a crypto into a bad investment.

Regarding a negative ratio, it therefore does not precisely identify a floor. During a prolonged bear market, MVRV can remain below Zero for many weeks or even months. The price may also continue to fall before demand returns.

XRP and DOGE remain under pressure

XRP traded around $1.48 after a daily correction exceeding 7%. According to analyst Ali Martinez, the $1.60 threshold remains decisive. A clear breakout would validate a setup targeting $2, an increase of nearly 25% from this resistance.

Such a forecast comes from technical analysis. It does not automatically arise from MVRV and assumes XRP regains buying volumes. The token also faces increased transfers made by large addresses to Binance.

Nearly 1.6 billion XRP have been transferred to the exchange in about thirty days, a six-month high. These transactions increase the amount available for trading, without proving that the holders involved are preparing sales.

DOGE also suffers a marked decline. Nevertheless, US spot ETFs collected nearly $909,650 of inflows on Monday, then about $1.2 million on Tuesday. The weekly total thus exceeds $2 million, still a modest amount compared to the token’s market cap.

The bullish signal still needs confirmation

Above all, the weakness of the MVRV is a positioning indicator. It reveals that long-term investors have fewer profits to sell, however it does not provide any proof of an immediate return of demand.

For XRP, a reclaim of $1.60 would strengthen the recovery scenario. The market will also need to monitor ETF flows and reserves held on platforms. A continued increase in deposits on Binance would maintain selling pressure.

Regarding DOGE, recent inflows into ETFs provide initial support. However, these occur after the announcement of the closure of Bitwise’s BWOW fund, scheduled for October this year. The manager cites demand evolution and product line optimization.

The negative MVRV of XRP and DOGE could thus prepare a rebound if spot acquisitions increase. Without an improvement in volumes and the crypto market, these latent losses will remain an on-chain observation rather than a true reversal signal.
