The crypto market has promising days ahead. At least, that’s what Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange in terms of trading volume, claims. In a recent interview with Bankless, Zhao predicted a series of successes for the industry and highlighted potential future scenarios. Let’s briefly decipher his statements.

The future of the crypto market: A series of transformations

When asked about the future trends of the crypto industry, Zhao compares it to the Internet. He explains that the adoption of the Internet did not occur due to a single major development, but rather through the combination of several important advancements. This rule also applies to crypto.

In 2017, initial coin offerings (ICOs), which were essentially ERC20 tokens, paved the way and provided funding for numerous blockchain-based projects. Several significant advancements also took place in 2020 and 2021. There were improvements in encryption protocols and progress in Proof-of-Stake (PoS).

These advancements have shaped the industry into what we know today. In line with this logic, the Binance CEO asserts that the future will be marked by several significant advancements as this industry continues to grow and attract more participants.

Potential narratives for the next bull market

Continuing his explanations, Zhao states that many different narratives or use cases could emerge thanks to technological advancements. This is already happening. He explains, “Now, with faster blockchains, there have been many new developments. Technologies that allow users to pay in crypto while merchants accept fiat in real-time, like Balance Pay, Bonus Card, and several other credit card solutions in the market, are emerging.”

Lastly, according to the Binance CEO, Africa holds great potential for crypto adoption. In certain regions of the continent, smartphone usage is on the rise while banking infrastructure is scarce. To overcome this deficiency, Africans are showing an increasing interest in blockchain technology. It could, therefore, become an excellent alternative.

Zhao concludes by stating that he is unsure which of these narratives will dominate. However, he is certain that “we’ll see multiple successful new startups and concepts, as well as revival of old ones, shaping the industry.”

In summary, Changpeng Zhao predicts significant advancements in the crypto industry, along with the emergence of new concepts and enterprises. His vision paves the way for an exciting and potentially transformative period in the industry, already shaken by a new concept: hyperbitcoinization.
