Ledger, the leader in secure crypto wallets, is partnering with Coinbase to enhance the user experience. Users will be able to buy crypto on Coinbase and receive it instantly in their Ledger wallet, all in a streamlined and secure manner.

Coinbase Pay, a simplified user experience

Until now, transferring crypto purchased on Coinbase to a Ledger wallet was a complex process prone to errors. Users had to first withdraw their funds from the exchange to a software wallet before sending them to their Ledger address, adding extra steps.

This new integration eliminates these complexities. From Ledger Live, it is now possible to directly purchase crypto via Coinbase Pay. But also, receive it instantly on your Ledger device. In addition to simplifying the purchasing process, this also enhances security by avoiding risks of errors or theft associated with intermediary transfers.

According to Ian Rogers, head of user experience at Ledger, “This integration makes buying crypto much easier for users by allowing direct and secure deposit into their Ledger wallet “. On Coinbase’s side, they are also celebrating a ” simplified user experience “.

Widespread adoption facilitated by Ledger

This partnership is strategically important to facilitate mainstream adoption of crypto. By directly integrating the purchasing process into Ledger Live, the entry into the world of crypto is greatly simplified for newcomers.

According to Ledger’s research, the previous complexities deterred many beginners from embarking on secure self-custody. This new experience addresses this significant point of friction in the user journey.

Ian Rogers compares this development to the Skyscanner platform, which simplified the traveler’s user journey by centralizing the booking of flights and hotels. Similarly, buying cryptos on Coinbase and storing them on Ledger becomes a seamless process, without disruption.

On the institutional side, this feature also represents an easy way to transfer assets purchased on Coinbase to a highly secure cold storage.

By partnering, Ledger and Coinbase aim to propel mainstream adoption of crypto. And they do so by providing a simplified and secure user experience. While ETFs are attracting increasing institutional capital, this integration also offers easy access for individuals looking to try out hardware wallets. This is a strong asset as institutions allocate billions into cryptos.
