Flows change direction in the crypto market. This week, Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs recorded significant capital outflows, while funds related to XRP, Solana, and HYPE attracted new investments. Behind these movements is a gradual rotation of institutional investors, who now seem to seek more exposure to altcoins than to the market’s dominant assets.

Capital is leaving Bitcoin ETFs on a Wall Street street.

In brief

  • Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs recorded significant capital outflows this week, marking a slowdown in institutional interest for the market’s major assets.
  • BlackRock, Fidelity, and Ark Invest are among the most affected funds, with more than 1.26 billion dollars withdrawn from US spot Bitcoin ETFs.
  • In contrast, products related to XRP, Solana, and HYPE attract new investments, signaling a gradual repositioning of investors towards altcoins.
  • This flow rotation could herald a new phase in the crypto market, where institutional capital seeks greater diversification and growth potential.

Bitcoin ETFs experience a black week

The US spot Bitcoin ETFs underwent their largest wave of withdrawals in several months. In fact, BlackRock IBIT alone accounts for more than 1.01 billion dollars in net outflows over five sessions, while Fidelity FBTC lost 111.5 million dollars and Ark & 21Shares’ ARKB lost 106.8 million.

Despite this selling pressure, the trading volume remains particularly high with 9.27 billion dollars exchanged over the period. This proves that institutional investors continue to actively reposition their allocations.

The main outflows observed on US spot Bitcoin ETFs are distributed as follows :

  • BlackRock IBIT : 1.01 billion dollars in outflows ;
  • Fidelity FBTC : 111.5 million dollars ;
  • Ark & 21Shares’ ARKB : 106.8 million dollars ;
  • Total net outflows over five days : 1.26 billion dollars ;
  • Cumulative trading volume : 9.27 billion dollars.

The movement does not only affect bitcoin. Ethereum ETFs also recorded 216 million dollars in net outflows. This change in dynamic is summarized by a simple phrase: “capital continues to flow in, but it now heads towards other assets”.

In other words, capital is not leaving the crypto sector as a whole, but simply changing destination. This rotation occurs in a context where several investors take profits after bitcoin’s performance since the approval of US spot ETFs.

XRP, Solana and HYPE capture new inflows

While large historical ETFs retreat, several products more exposed to altcoins show positive inflows. XRP ETFs attracted 22 million dollars over the week, while funds related to Solana recorded 15.6 million dollars in inflows. The case of the HYPE fund remains the most striking with 72.4 million dollars captured over the same period. This reallocation reflects a growing appetite for these assets in the current market phase.

Other signals reinforce this trend. The XRP network recorded more than 4,300 new wallets within twenty-four hours, while investment products related to the token continue to attract institutional capital. This is a diversification strategy where some managers now seek broader exposure. This evolution gradually supports the idea of a new ETF cycle focused on altcoins and the growth narratives associated with their ecosystems.

This flow shift could have lasting consequences on the listed crypto market. Bitcoin maintains a dominant position in institutional allocations, but the rise of products related to XRP, Solana, or HYPE shows that investors are beginning to further segment their strategies. If this trend continues, the coming months could accelerate the multiplication of specialized ETFs and strengthen competition among blockchains to attract Wall Street capital.
