Matt Furie is the creator of Pepe The Frog, a cartoon character representing a “chill frog dude” that recently gained popularity in the world of cryptocurrencies. He stated during a live Twitter chat that he is not aware of the existence of Pepecoin. Known for his lawsuits against bad jokes about his iconic meme, Furie may take legal action again.

PEPE’s wild success without the knowledge of its creator

As memecoins gain popularity, their value increases. This is the case with Pepecoin, a new cryptocurrency associated with an internet meme that made a spectacular entrance into the market in mid-April.

To give you an idea of its success, consider that:

  • PEPE went from a market capitalization of $50,000 to $821 million after its launch;
  • its value reportedly increased by nearly 5,000,000%, according to crypto media Protos;
  • PepeCoin has already made several millionaires in a short period of time;
  • Etc.

Binance was impressed by PEPE and decided to list it alongside FLOKI on May 5th.

However, a report by Protos could bring Pepecoin holders back down to earth. The creator of the iconic meme recently spoke out on Twitter:

Actually, this is the first time I’ve heard of it. What is Pepecoin?” Matt Furie asked on Twitter Spaces recently. The chat was supposed to focus on his new NFT art collection, “Zogs,” but it was difficult not to bring up the famous Pepecoin.

Don’t make Furie Furie-ous

Otherwise, he will take legal action against the creators of the famous memecoin, PEPE. He has already chosen this option to punish Infowars and Alex Jones in 2019. These individuals used Pepe The Frog to promote products that fueled hate propaganda. Matt Furie does not appreciate people making money behind his back. He certainly does not like his character, which promotes peace, being associated with hate.

After the trial, the opposing team had to pay $15,000 in damages.

As a result, some fear a new response from the artist against the creators of PEPE. Furthermore, he has already picked his favorite memecoin, Dogecoin.

It should be noted that PEPE has not been able to maintain its momentum, as its decline is increasingly evident at the moment.
