Roger Ver’s admiration for Ethereum and its impressive features
Well-known in the cryptocurrency industry, the man nicknamed Bitcoin Jesus was invited to the May 31 episode of the Show Me The Crypto podcast. It was another opportunity for Roger Ver to share his ideas and opinions with crypto enthusiasts following his recent statement about Dogecoin and Bitcoin.
During the discussion, Mr. Ver made it known that Ethereum will lead the way in bringing the most new users into the world of cryptocurrencies, much to the detriment of Bitcoin. “Even though Ethereum doesn’t have the biggest market cap compared to Bitcoin, I think Ethereum is the front-runner in terms of driving worldwide adoption,” he affirmed.
To justify his position, the entrepreneur highlights the rise of Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible blockchains. He also points out Layer 2 scaling solutions, such as Polygon, offered by Ethereum. For Roger Ver, these blockchain advantages make all the difference as they promote the adoption of cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin: the big loser?
In the podcast, Roger Ver touched on several topics and also provided crypto enthusiasts with a brief history lesson. The “Bitcoin Jesus” recounts the “scaling civil war” that took place in the early days of Bitcoin, which pitted Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin against the main Bitcoin developers.
The dispute mainly revolved around disagreements regarding the use of smart contracts. These differences led Vitalik Buterin to walk away and develop ETH.
“All of that would have been built on top of Bitcoin if not for the scaling civil war that happened. These Bitcoin developers hate Vitalik, and they drove him from the project to create Ethereum and more power to that,” he revealed.
Bitcoin or Ethereum: which of the two will lead more people to adopt cryptocurrencies? Despite the recent network outages of Ethereum, it is Roger Ver’s favorite blockchain. However, it is difficult to answer this question with certainty in the ever-surprising and uncertain world of the crypto sphere.
