BitMine Buys $68M in Ethereum, Nears 6 Million ETH
American company BitMine Immersion Technologies continues its crypto accumulation strategy. It has just added 27,180 ETH to its treasury for an amount of about 68 million dollars. This new purchase brings the company’s Ethereum reserves to 5.96 million ETH, or 4.9% of the total supply. As the market holds its breath, some experts identify two challenges: yield and concentration.

In brief
- BitMine bought 27,180 ETH last week, about 68 million dollars.
- Its reserves reach 5.96 million ETH, or 4.9% of Ethereum’s total supply.
- Only 144,000 ETH are missing for the company to reach its 5% target.
- The ETH/BTC ratio has just broken a four-year downward trend.
- The Clarity Act vote and Korean purchases could support crypto by the end of 2026.
BitMine’s Ethereum accumulation shows no signs of weakening
Since launching its crypto strategy on June 30, 2025, BitMine has never missed a week of buying. Its latest acquisition amounts to 27,180 ETH, or nearly 68 million dollars at Monday’s price: around $2,500 per unit.
One detail draws crypto experts’ attention: the amount of this new crypto purchase remains close to that of the previous week. It amounts to about 69 million dollars. BitMine thus stays true to its internal target nicknamed “Alchemy of 5%”. It aims to hold 5% of the total circulating Ethereum supply. Indeed, only about 144,000 ETH are missing to achieve this.
BitMine is already the world’s largest Ethereum treasury. The company also ranks second in the crypto treasuries ranking across all assets. It is right behind Strategy Inc. and its 845,080 bitcoins. These are valued at about 71 billion dollars.
Currently, the total value of BitMine’s crypto assets reaches 15.8 billion dollars. This amount includes:
- 5.96 million Ethereum;
- 212 BTC;
- 549 million dollars in cash and securities;
- stakes in Beast Industries and Eightco Holdings.
These are respectively estimated at 180 million dollars and 98 million dollars.
BitMine doesn’t just accumulate ETH tokens
According to the official release, BitMine already generates 334 million dollars in annualized revenue through Ethereum staking. Indeed, the company actively stakes its tokens via MAVAN. This is an institutional validation platform launched in early 2026.
BitMine reports 5,067,309 ETH staked, about 85% of its holdings. Regarding its annualized yield (calculated over seven days), it reaches 2.62%. When all the company’s ETH is staked, this figure could reach 392 million dollars. This is, in any case, what Tom Lee, BitMine’s chairman and Fundstrat’s founder, believes.
Meanwhile, this Ethereum staking strategy transforms BitMine into much more than a passive holder. Practically, the company becomes a major validator of the crypto network. Its recurring revenue strengthens not only its treasury but also its capacity to continue buying ETH tokens.

Tom Lee anticipates institutional acceleration for Ethereum by late 2026
According to Tom Lee, three catalysts could support Ethereum as well as the entire crypto market by the end of the year. The senate vote on the Clarity Act tops the list. Expected this Tuesday, this law should clarify the regulatory status of digital assets in the United States.
The second factor: the return of Korean investors to the crypto market. They seem to be gradually leaving technology stocks related to AI.
Finally, and not least, the four-year crypto market cycle. According to Lee, it will reach a low point in the coming weeks. His analysis is based notably on the ETH/BTC ratio, which reached its highest level since January 30, 2026.

That’s not all! Ethereum also posted the best performance among major macroeconomic assets in the third quarter of 2026. It outperformed the S&P 500 by 5,866 basis points. Solana and Bitcoin complete the podium of best performances since the end of June.
A crypto investment that is not without risk
Analysts agree on one point: the price of Ethereum is the main risk. Referring to the purchase price stated in the release, the reserve represents about 14.97 billion dollars. A 1% drop would thus mechanically reduce its valuation by about 149.68 million dollars, all else equal. However, this is a theoretical value change, not a realized loss.
Another calculated comparison: a decline close to 2.23% would equate to the projected 334 million dollars in annual revenue. This sensitivity illustrates why crypto rewards only partially cushion volatility. It neither measures net profit nor future stock movement.
Tom Lee especially counts on the tokenization of financial assets and AI agents’ use on the blockchain. He believes Ethereum could benefit from these emerging demands. That said, tokenization will need to generate sustainable economic activity on the Ethereum blockchain to support this crypto thesis. Meanwhile, reserve growth simultaneously increases:
- revenue potential;
- sensitivity of their valuation;
- exposure to volatility.
In any case, one thing is certain: BitMine is methodically advancing towards its goal. It remains to be seen whether US regulators and major crypto investors will follow the trend in the last months of 2026. Another question also deserves particular attention: what profitability will remain after costs and Ethereum market fluctuations?
