Mark Yusko, the CEO of Morgan Creek Capital, a hedge fund that manages 1.5 billion dollars  is adamant. A flood of fiat currency is expected to pour into the crypto markets in the coming months. The expert predicts a surge in interest in Bitcoin ETFs from American baby boomers, the generation born between 1946 and 1964. They are expected to soon channel funds currently held in retirement accounts into the crypto markets. He sees at least 300 billion dollars flowing into the crypto markets in the upcoming months. This was during an interview with The Wolf of All Streets podcast. Details.

Bitcoin : 300 milliards dans les ETF ?

“The adoption of Bitcoin ETFs has not yet fully materialized”

53 billion dollars. That’s the combined value of Bitcoin ETFs as of April 24, 2024, whose approval dates back only about three months. It’s hard not to be inspired by this movement led by Wall Street giants like BlackRock, Fidelity, VanEck, etc.

However, despite this strong dynamic, Mark Yusko, CEO of Morgan Creek Capital hedge fund asserts that the adoption of Bitcoin ETFs has not yet fully materialized. According to him, everything we have seen thus far represents only 10% of what Bitcoin ETFs can generate.

The expert recalled the increased interest of American investment advisors in BTC ETFs. Drawing on figures from the Investment Adviser Association, he noted that the wealth managed by these advisors for baby boomers amounts to trillions of dollars.

Baby boomers’ wealth on the cusp of entering the crypto markets

Mark Yusko believes that the baby boomer segment, the generation of 1946 – 1964, should soon respond to the call of Bitcoin ETFs. By focusing on this segment, Mark estimates that nearly ” 300 billion dollars […] will be invested” in the crypto market via retirement accounts in the coming months ».

For the time being, the wealth of baby boomers is held in retirement accounts managed by financial advisors, all interested in Bitcoin ETFs. But an injection of 300 billion dollars in fiat is much more than all the conversions into bitcoin over 15 years !

Imagine what could happen to bitcoin if such an amount of fiat hit the crypto markets in the next 12 months! The crypto market would then see its total capitalization jump from its current value of 2,510 billion to nearly 6,000 billion dollars. Could this be the factor that drives the next bull cycle? In any case, we have not yet reached the end of the excitement for Bitcoin ETFs.
